Titanium exhausts
In all forms of motorsport saving weight is seen as the Holy Grail that leads to the improvement of overall vehicle performance. This can sometimes cause problems when extremely light components prove to be too fragile for practical use. This is particularly true in rallying where vulnerable parts such as exhausts can be easily damaged by stones and rocks under the car. Normally rally car exhaust systems are made from thicker material to prevent them flattening which reduces engine performance. BTB can make systems from titanium tube, which due to its low density can be made thick enough to withstand some damage without compromising vehicle weight. As production costs come down, maybe we will see more widespread use of titanium in mainstream production cars as well as motorsport.
