September 2011 BTB Exhaust Fabrication News
At the cutting edge of exhaust development, it is perhaps inevitable that many of BTB’s customers are unwilling for details of their relationship to be used in their advertising. There are some exceptions where a customer’s success is so notable and the relationship is so strong that it can be broadcast for mutual enjoyment. Here are some of these stories that give some insight in to the breadth of expertise that BTB can offer in the field of vehicle development.
International Success for Symtech
The Belgian Symtech Racing team, based in Grobbendonk, together with their crew of Hayden Paddon and John Kennard, have claimed another win in the 2011 Production Car World Rally Championship. With almost an eight-minute lead and an overall classification of ninth, Paddon and his Symtech Racing Subaru Impreza STR11 triumphed on the Argentinian PWRC round in style. Argentina was particularly demanding: especially for the cars. It was a reality that Paddon's rivals were soon to face, leaving the way clear for the New Zealander to lead the rally at the end of day one with a nine-minute advantage over the second- placed competitor. All of Paddon's direct opposition were forced to throw in the towel during the tough opening day with mechanical problems. BTB supply the stainless steel exhausts for Symtech built cars to the Belgian team’s exact requirements, and they stand up well to the punishment that the world’s toughest rally stages inflict on these production based cars.
Reynard Inverter
Adrian Reynard returned to his racing roots by driving a car bearing his name to triumph in an allcomers race at a recent 750 Motor Club event at Silverstone. BTB are delighted to have supplied the exhaust for the Andre Brown designed Reynard Inverter, which runs a modified Suzuki Hayabusa engine. The exhaust was completed entirely from the CAD data without sight of the actual car, and as is the tradition with Reynards, the result is right first time!
John Plant “Allard” Replica
Another car making its debut at the same event was the Allard replica of John Plant. This impressively well engineered car was designed and built entirely by Plant himself. BTB helped by making the tubular manifolds for the LS1 V8 engined projectile. In damp conditions, not at all suited to an 800kg car with 600bhp, John managed to win his class in the combined Kit cars, Sports and GT race, and is now looking forward to a dry race to challenge for outright victories.
